HUNT FIRE

UPDATE
The Hunt Fire, which started yesterday at 5:30 p.m. as a result of the use of a grinder in dry grass, is now 50% contained. The fire started on Hunt Rd. at Salt Springs Valley Rd., north of Copperopolis, and has consumed 600 acres. All roads are now open and all residents have returned home. Firefighters will continue to strengthen control lines and mop up as conditions remain hot and dry.
Fire Officials advise the public not to use mechanical equipment after 10 a.m., near dry vegetation. No mowers, no grinders, no welders, no chain saws, no weed trimmers, no tractors, no mechanical equipment that would risk a potential fire hazard.
Fire conditions are at critical levels!
Full containment is expected by 6 p.m. August 12, 2004 and control by Friday, August 13, 2004.
There are currently 290 people committed to this incident. Equipment includes:
