EMERGENCY NOTICE

to the residents of
City of Angels, Six-Mile Village, Carson Hill, Vallecito, Douglas Flat, and Murphys

The Darby fire has burned a flume that supplies water to these areas. There is limited water storage. Residents must conserve water immediately! The following measures are recommended.

Water Conservation

  • Use single service dishware when possible (i.e. paper plates, plastic utensils, paper cups). Avoid automatic dish washer use. If dishwasher use is absolutely necessary, only run the dishwasher when it is fully loaded and on a short cycle.
  • When washing dishes by hand, use two basins-one for washing and one for rinsing-rather than letting the water run.
  • Limit use of baths and showers. Take sponge baths when possible.
  • Defrost frozen food in the refrigerator or in the microwave instead of running water over it.
  • Postpone clothes washing when possible. When clothes washing is absolutely necessary, only run the clothes washer when it is fully loaded and on a short cycle.
  • Avoid all outdoor water use (use of automatic landscape watering systems, washing vehicles, filling swimming pools etc.).
  • Restaurants - serve drinking water only upon request.
  • Turn off water to any leaking fixtures or piping (wash basins, toilets etc.).
  • Flush toilets less frequently.

Remember: Avoid all excessive or unnecessary water use !
