San Andreas - Mandatory
evacuations of Love Creek and Doud's Landing will be lifted at
noon today. The advisory evacuation notices posted yesterday
will be rescinded at 8:00 p.m. this evening. Access to Love Creek
Road at Moran Road will be restricted to residents only. Residents
should be prepared to show identification. Construction crew damaged the main water line in Vallecito. Union Public Utility District (UPUD) staff is on site completing repairs. The water has been TEMPORARILY shut off to repair the line. The Darby Fire has consumed 11,980 acres and is 68% contained. There are 3,029 fire personnel on scene and large fire fighting equipment on the roadway. Residents must drive carefully to ensure public safety. There will be a community meeting to discuss the status of the Darby Fire today, September 12, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at Hazel Fischer Elementary School, Arnold, in the gymnasium. Representatives from CA Dept. of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Vallecito Union School District and Calaveras County Supervisor Merita Callaway will be available to answer questions. Calaveras Big Trees State Park is closed until further notice except for emergency vehicles. Love Creek Road at Moran Road will be closed until noon when the mandatory evacuation order will be lifted. For information regarding road restrictions or closures, call the CHP San Andreas Office from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM at 754-3541 and at their Stockton Dispatch center after 5:00 PM at 943-8600.
